On Friday 16th May I set out on a beautiful sunny day with a few four legged accomplices to make my small contribution to the fantastic art project ‘Songs of the City’. We set off to Tentsmuir Forest and Beach, armed with a lithographic plate displaying info and a code about the project. Much to my delight the normally deserted stretch of coastline was then descended on by about 30 students. How fortuitous that their starting point was the “Songs of the City” log. Happy meanderings!
Songs of the City: “a research project being carried out as part of an ongoing exploration into creative gifts both given and received by poets and songwriters from the city of Dundee. Songs of the City attempts to re-situate the words of Dundee’s poets back into the landscape of the town and to re-materialise their words for you, the pubic, to find and reflect upon.” “Each Poem is presented on a photo etched lithographic plate and is attached to a discreet location in the city.”
